The reader thanks the contributors of Christmas Closet

For over 50 years, the In His Service circle of Kings Daughters and Sons has sponsored a community Christmas closet to benefit the children of Midland County, providing new clothes to those in need. Although we are happy to organize this effort, we could not do it without the community partners who help us by providing funding. All of their contributions go directly to gift certificates for families; the Circle covers all administrative costs.

This year, these partners included the Rockwell Fund at the Midland Area Community Foundation, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Herbert and Grace A. Dow Foundation, Strosacker Foundation, Gerstacker Foundation, Kiwanis Club of Midland, Alden and Vada Dow Family Foundation. and St. John’s Episcopal Church. We have also received donations from many generous members of the community, including Circle members. Thank you!

Circle committee members included Noreen Anderson, Linda Baker, Barb Galloway, Nancy Hieb, Liz Kapla, Mary Lou Kent, Sue Kirkby, Jean Krause, Dorothy McKenna, Marcelle Molzahn, Amy Nehil and Beth Schmidt. Your service is deeply appreciated.

As the pandemic of the past two years has changed the way we provide clothing, we have been able to provide local Kohl’s and Walmart gift certificates to 1,508 school children from 718 families in Midland. We thank our retail partners for their support and collaboration.

We are blessed to live in such a generous community.
