Drama teacher needs costume closet racks

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) — Chase Coston has only been teaching acting for a few months. It’s his first year on the job and there’s already been some drama.

“This semester alone, three of the shelves in our costume closet collapsed and nearly fell on a student,” Coston says on his DonorsChoose page. “I ask here for new costume racks and accompanying materials.”

Coston is a teacher at North Brunswick High School. He’s asking for donations to buy the costume stands on the DonorsChoose website, an online charity that helps teachers get funds for school projects.

“These materials will not only promote their performance, their learning of technical theater and their confidence in our program, but will also ensure their safety while working in the costume closet,” Coston said. “These costume racks will last for years and replace the flimsy ones we’re currently afraid to hang things from. Tape, safety pins and bobby pins will be used in tandem with these racks to update the closet to costumes as well as for teaching materials for technical theater classes in the classroom.

Coston needs $336 in donations. Once fully funded, DonorsChoose will purchase the costume stands and materials and deliver them to the school.
