The slate of candidates vying for North Bay’s top political office grew to three today when North Bay Pride communications manager Jason Maclennan announced he had ‘come out of the closet to run for mayor of the City of North Bay”.

In a press release, Maclennan refers to the council being named the most secretive in Canada.

See: An embarrassing victory! The most secretive municipal government in Canada’s North Bay, according to a group of journalists

“I was in the closet hiding my true authentic self for many years, but when I finally came out of the closet and was transparent about being openly gay, the world for me was a better place,” says Maclennan. “It’s my belief; you can’t hide your offers from the community when you’re in public service. And getting that ‘honorable’ mention as top secret advice is an embarrassment to all of us.”

Maclennan says the council’s secrecy has him scratching his head.

“if you were on this board, what would you do differently moving forward, or maybe you just shouldn’t show up again. How do you work for the city, when you’re not speaking to people who live in the city? doesn’t work.”

Transparency is becoming a common theme for new board nominees. Over the weekend, City Council candidate Jamie Lowery also made it a mainstay of his platform.

See: Lowery commits to improving transparency and access to City Hall

Maclennan says the town has grown, but asks “for whom?”

“Not the homeless. Not low income people. Not small business owners. Not seniors. Not people who are first time home buyers. I noticed the city council talks about new businesses coming to town, but they never talk about businesses we’ve lost or moved out of town, but that would be part of the transparency, wouldn’t it? »

He adds that community collaboration is lacking in the municipal council.

“We need older people to tell us their needs, we need places like West Ferris to tell us their needs because it will be different from Airport Hill. We need advisory committees that are approved by the city council. Maybe if this was the process before, the city would have remembered simple things like adding changing rooms to the fields they built for millions of people.

“Corporations create opportunities for the few like CEOs. Government is supposed to create opportunities for everyone. That’s what’s missing, that’s what we’re going to change. That’s how we’re going to grow and ending things like homelessness.

Maclennan, currently employed by Canada Post, has worked with North Bay Pride since 2017.

He highlights his growth, which is “beyond what everyone expected”.

“This clearly shows that he can develop events and the city for all, not just the few,” the statement said.

Maclennan is a former Community Relations and Business Manager and has lived in North Bay since 2005.

“Jason will be North Bay’s first openly gay mayor if elected,” the statement added.

Applications will be submitted in the coming weeks.

Get more information and check out its platform here.

Maclennan joins Peter Chirico and Johanne Brousseau in the race for mayor.

The next municipal election will take place on Monday, October 24.

We’ve Reached the Common Thread of Amazon’s Secret Excess Inventory Section https://jotioli.com/weve-reached-the-common-thread-of-amazons-secret-excess-inventory-section/ Sun, 19 Jun 2022 17:38:56 +0000 https://jotioli.com/weve-reached-the-common-thread-of-amazons-secret-excess-inventory-section/

The secret is out. (Photo: Amazon)

We love a good deal and there’s only one thing that can make a deal better: it solves a problem. You probably already know that Amazon is full of items that meet both criteria, but what you might not know is that there is a secret section with awesome overstock items that can simplify, clear up, or just make your life a little easier – at a huge discount.

We’ve combed through hundreds of products — from colorful knives to closet organization gadgets — and picked our favorites. Scroll down to find hidden gems to help you around the house.

If you’re looking for a quick fix for your padded closet, these heavy duty hangers are designed to hold up to five blouses, dresses or pants.

“Love this concept for organizing your closet,” wrote one. “These have worked great and freed up so much space in my closet. They are quite sturdy for the price. I am now happy with this purchase as these hangers have made life a little less stressful when looking for clothes and made my closet so pretty.

For a hot meal outside, this Dutch Oven would do anything Survivor the contestant drools. Not only does it function as a saucepan (with cute little legs to hold over a campfire), but the lid doubles as a pan so you can fry whatever you fancy in the wild.

“I bought this for camping,” wrote one. “I use fire to cook all my meals and this thing is awesome. I’ve only used the lid to cook breakfast and used the pot to make campfire soup from scratch .If you buy it be sure to treat it with oil every time you clean it so it doesn’t rust.I can see this is the last jar I buy.It will last me years.

If you own a microwave, you know how messy it can be if you don’t cover your food. Paper towels or a slightly crooked lid sometimes work, but this food-grade silicone cover works all the time to prevent splatters. But smart Amazon shoppers have multiple uses for it.

“[I] use it as a microwave splatter cover or to wash and strain fruits and vegetables,” shared. “Very easy to clean. Foldable to make it even smaller. It can even be used to cover plates when installing a barbecue. Buy a few. Put them where you can see them and make the most of them.

There are many reasons to love these knives, not just because they are colorful! To prevent cross-contamination, you can color-coordinate these for whatever chopping jobs you do, and they all come with sleeves for safety, but buyers have a whole host of reasons to appreciate them.

“Honestly, I just wanted a good set of knives since I’m starting over after my divorce!” shared a “These knives are amazing! The sharpness is out of this world. They are strong and well made! Love them. Be careful…..they cut pretty much anything!!”

This dish drying rack is perfect for small kitchens. It saves counter space by using the sink to catch dripping water and it rolls up for easy storage.

“Ooooh, I scored big for Valentine’s Day this year! wrote one. “My wife loves it. She likes order in her kitchen and leaving things to dry on the counter is horrible. This little baby is easy to store and roll out for use, and keeps all dishes/pots/pots above the sink. It can be a great space saver by allowing you to use the area above your sink. Also works well as a cooling rack. So easy to use, yet so empowering.

To dress up an empty corner, this floating shelf allows you to display all your trinkets.

“I bought two for a small space in my toilet,” shared. “The wood was a little light so I stained it to match my existing wood accents. It stained a little darker than I was hoping for, but they still look and work great! I love the size and the look!”

If you have Amazon Prime, you will of course get free shipping. Not a member yet? No problem. You can sign up for your 30-day free trial here. (And even those without Prime get free shipping on orders of $25 or more).

The actor made the case for investing in hassle-free sarees via his recent look

Madhuri Dixit Nene’s wide range of striking sarees never fail to disappoint on style. On the veteran actor, we spotted traditional weaves such as Benarasi silks and Paithanis, as well as contemporary curtains like pre-sewn options and everything in between. Look closely, and you’ll notice the actor often whips up looks that cement his penchant for wearable textiles, from georgettes to crepes. More recently, Dixit Nene turned to a gorgeous ivory and cream saree that gives off a yellow sheen in certain light, by designer Punit Balana. Her look is a crash course in dressing up the simplest saree in her closet and making it festive. In case you missed seeing this ensemble, keep reading to decode the actor’s look and do the same.

Madhuri Dixit Nene’s saree came with a contrasting blouse

Channeling the less is more approach was Madhuri Dixit Nene’s Punit Balana creation which scored big on simplicity and elegance. “Etherically graceful, Madhuri Dixit Nene symbolizes inner strength in this Lakshmi saree,” said Balana, whose outfits have found favor in the actor’s closet on numerous occasions. While its drape appears as an ivory tone, it is actually a delicate pale yellow. “The subtle buttercup hue evokes softness. Madhuri’s look is an organza saree with an embroidered hand Tuesday border. It was paired with a printed blouse highlighted with detailed hand embroidery of gotta and Tuesday work”, explains the designer. Her understated saree and contrasting blue chanderi blouse form a unique blend of colors, embroidery and fabrics.

Statement jhumkas encrusted with uncut diamonds from Kishandas & Co. enhanced its timeless look. Dixit Nene also went classic with her beauty choices to complete her look. From an updo with fresh flower buds to soft smoky eyes and a caramel lip stain, the actor’s makeup choices are worth considering. Adding a pastel saree, like the one from Dixit Nene, to your bridal trousseau is a wise choice as it will work well for many occasions to come, Punit Balana recommends brides to consider this organza saree for their engagement or pre-wedding puja, while bridesmaids can opt for this look for a daytime wedding ceremony. Add a trendy choker to amp it up. Below, we’ve chosen the exact same saree from the designer’s collection to help you recreate Madhuri Dixit Nene’s look, along with matching accessories.

Amazon has just announced its dates for Prime Day 2022 and you bet we’re already on the hunt for some of the fashion items that may go on sale this year. Prime Day will last 48 hours, from July 12 to July 13, which will give us just under a month to prepare for a full wardrobe refresh. And maybe while we’re at it, we’ll dig through our closets and donate everything we don’t really wear anymore to make room for this new stuff.

No more WWD

There is never really wrong it’s time to stock up on the basics, but there are times that are better… like Prime Day, for example. The beauty of a wardrobe staple is that you can wear it with almost anything in your wardrobe and Amazon Prime Day is the best time to check out those basics. Prime Day’s discounted prices make it easy to justify three versions of your favorite everyday tank top. You can also look forward to the fall, where you might be able to pick up a new designer sweater or jacket at a huge discount. It might seem counter-intuitive to buy clothes out of season, but that’s kind of the point: because people don’t necessarily buy coats in the summer, you increase your chances of getting a good deal.

During Prime Day 2021, there were super thefts on everyday clothes, like jeans and bras. (Amazon also has a great selection of bras for large busts.) For this whole basic idea, we’re specifically looking for our favorite white t-shirts to buy on Amazon and fashionable straight-leg jeans you can dress up. or go down. There were also deep discounts on mid-season summer clothing, which can be a really fun wardrobe refresh when the heat heats up.

Check back for deals we’ve been waiting for on swimwear, sandals, summer pants, and summer dresses. In case you missed it, Amazon has become one of our favorite places to shop for women’s workout clothes and athletic styles. We’ll be on the lookout for some of the best leggings on Amazon, as well as some of the most supportive sports bras on Amazon.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

This year, Amazon Prime Day will begin on July 12 and run until July 13. This is 48 hours of a huge continuous sale. In preparation for these two days, Amazon is slowly starting to reveal things that are on sale as an introduction.

What kind of fashion deals can we expect to see this Amazon Prime Day 2022?

  • Amazon Clothing Deals: Amazon’s clothing deals last year really raised high expectations for what we might get this year. There were a ton of dresses on sale, from wedding guest-approved Alice + Olivia styles to Astr-brand dresses you could wear every summer weekend. Some of the best Prime Day fashion deals from last year included Levi’s denim, which is worth every penny off, in our humble opinion.

  • Amazon shoe deals: Buying shoes during Amazon Prime Day embodies all the good parts of buying shoes – fun styles, playful style – without all the inconvenience of going to a store to try on shoes. Last year there was a huge range of shoe varieties on sale. You can swap out your white trainers for simple Adidas tennis shoes, or go all out with a pair of Aquazzura heels. Or even stay somewhere in the middle with a pair of Soludos flat sandals. But with these crazy good discounts, why limit yourself to just one?

  • Amazon Accessory Deals: Amazon fashion accessories shouldn’t be slept on, and that largely includes the bags you’d actually use this summer, like tote bags or splurge-worthy designer beach bags. You simply can’t go wrong with either option and there’s still plenty of summer left. Last year there were also price cuts on Ray-Bans and LeSpec sunglasses, as well as Swarovski jewelry.

To prepare for future savings, we pulled out some of the best fashion deals you can buy right now. Stay tuned to the big 48 hours of July for an update on what’s even further reduced so you can get the best deal possible.

Welcome to this week’s edition of stars: they’re just like us. Except in this case, they’re not stars, they’re royals, and instead of being like us, we can be like them. Do you follow? Let me break it down. Kate Middleton’s monochromatic look should serve as your royal inspiration this week (and probably next week too) because it’s actually quite easy to copy – and you already know that imitation is the highest form of flattery.

With an incredibly busy social schedule, the Duchess of Cambridge is always dressed in the nine – this translates into a wardrobe of formal looks that are elegant, but hard to replicate. However, once in a while, Kate Middleton will wear something that falls into the realm of a non-royal closet. For example, last week the Duchess wore the ultimate minimalist look for summer, which included a $69 blazer from Zara. Her blazer was white but you should probably look for one in a bright color too because Kate Middleton just gave us an extra dose of sartorial inspiration in her monochrome blue look.

The Duchess of Cambridge combined several shades of blue for the Windsor Order of Service Garter today at St George’s Chapel. Her look included a long-sleeved blue midi dress that had a strong jacket-like structure. Her accessories steadily increased in saturation with a slightly darker hat and jewels of blue gemstones and diamonds of G. Collins & Sons. She completed her look with a pair of bright blue jeweled heels by Aquazzura.

The Mega Agency.

Although I don’t think Kate Middleton attended any fashion week shows last season, she is on trend by going monochrome. She may have noticed how popular the look is on Zara’s site when she picked up her white blazer. Picking a singular color and building an entire outfit around it comes down to two schools of thought when it comes to dressing. The first is the dopamine dressing – wearing layers and layers of bright colors is a guaranteed mood-lifting formula, especially when working with a bright summer color.

STYLECASTER | Kate Middleton's monochromatic look

The Mega Agency.

The second school of thought (and the one Kate Middleton already knows) is minimalism. Since each blue piece complements each other, the final look is sleek, cohesive, and structured. If a business dress isn’t your style, you can achieve the same impact by wearing a comfortable matching ensemble. The monochromatic trend is for people who want the best of minimalist and colorful fashion worlds.

If you’re itching to get the Kate Middleton look, I recommend getting a monochrome suit. You’ll feel great (and get plenty of compliments) when you wear the suit pieces together for a statement look, but you can also use the blazer and pants as separate pieces to complement the rest of your wardrobe.

Oversized Suit Blazer

This bright blue suit from Mango has the same punchy impact as Kate Middleton’s blue suit dress. Blue is also a great color to invest in as it works just as well in winter as it does in summer. Pair this blazer with the matching pants.

Love Link Sling 105

You can literally put yourself in Kate Middleton’s shoes with this pair of blue pumps from Aquazzura. Strappy heels are definitely a splurge but would be an amazing purchase for a special occasion.

Dokehom 3 Piece Storage Bags Are Under $20 on Amazon https://jotioli.com/dokehom-3-piece-storage-bags-are-under-20-on-amazon/ Sat, 11 Jun 2022 10:00:00 +0000 https://jotioli.com/dokehom-3-piece-storage-bags-are-under-20-on-amazon/

Every product we feature has been independently selected and reviewed by our editorial team. If you make a purchase using the included links, we may earn a commission.

If your linen closet is, well, out of control, you’re way overdue for a reorganization. Rather than just folding up every bath towel and putting it back in the same space, invest in a set of storage bags, the kind that’s designed to keep everything super clean.

Start with Amazon’s Dokehom 3-Piece Storage Bags — they’re on sale right now for just $20. Each storage bag can hold up to 90 litres, making it plenty of room for seasonal clothes, blankets, holiday decorations, toys, photos, baby clothes, comforters, and more. The bags are woven from a three-ply composite fabric, which allows them to hold their shape, promote ventilation and, most importantly, protect whatever is inside. Once everything is sealed, you won’t have to worry about odors, moisture or dust getting in.

The bags are finished with reinforced handles and stitching, preventing them from splitting due to excess weight. A set of heavy-duty two-way zippers allow you to slide the bags open in either direction. Plus, each bag has a see-through window, letting you see exactly what’s inside. And when you’re not using them, just fold them up to save space until you need them again.

Buy it! Dokehom 3-Piece Storage Bags, $19.98 (originally $29.99); amazon.com

Hundreds of Amazon shoppers have given the storage bags a five-star rating, with many noting in reviews that they’re “very surprised” at how much they contain. One reviewer wrote, “It made so much more room in my linen closet,” while a second said, “They are much bigger than I expected!

Another user explained that they were “skeptical” about the ability of these bags to hold their large duvets. “Boy, I was wrong!” they said, adding, “I was able to easily fit a very puffy king-size down comforter in one and a huge king-size comforter in another.” They finished by enthusing, “These are sturdy, easy to stack and one of the best things I’ve bought.”

In the closet of Sunflower Bean singer Julia Cumming https://jotioli.com/in-the-closet-of-sunflower-bean-singer-julia-cumming/ Wed, 08 Jun 2022 14:33:12 +0000 https://jotioli.com/in-the-closet-of-sunflower-bean-singer-julia-cumming/

Cumming and I spoke on the eve of the release of Sunflower Bean’s third album, A head of sugar (released May 6). She describes the album, the indie darling’s first since 2018, as sonically more adventurous than earlier records while still, in many ways, being a return to basics – a move which is also reflected in the band’s clothing choices. When Cumming, who sings and plays bass, joined Nick Kivlen and Olive Faber in Sunflower Bean, they were “semi-gothic New York teenagers.” “With [Headful of Sugar] we kind of went back to black,” she says. At their New York exit show at Webster Hall, the entire band was dressed in black and leather, with Cumming wearing a Balmain leather corset and safety pin. “With this album, it’s soft in theory and dark in execution,” says Cumming. “I’ve always liked bands. [that use] style as a means of advancing the idea [of their music].”

Indeed, Cumming’s style and musical evolution have always been intimately linked. In fact, playing in his first band, Supercute!, sparked his initial interest in the style as an expression when he was 13 years old. She started saving up, making clothes, and wearing her bandmate’s dad’s dress shoes. “I wore crazy stuff, and I think everyone thought I was really weird, but I really didn’t care,” she recalled. “I just wanted to go to the knitting factory and see Kimya Dawson.” If playing in a band inspired her to begin her sartorial experimentation, modeling and working with industry heavyweights like Kim Sui, Steven Meisel and Pat McGrath ignited her love for fashion as a form of art. “Style is your calling card when you walk into the room of who you are and what you want to say,” she explains. “It takes a while to realize how special and cool it is to be able to change everything in your life with just one piece of clothing.”

While Cumming will always draw her personal style from rock icons like Courtney Love, Joan Jett and Kim Gordon, she also draws inspiration from many contemporary designers. When I asked who these designers were, she consults an ongoing group chat she has with her manager and stylist called “Sassy Style Bitches” and names Chopova Lowena, Charlotte Knowles, Duncan and R13. She is excited about what she sees as a general movement “towards inclusivity and individuality”, citing a period early in her modeling career when her agency would encourage her to dress less dirty. But that grunge side is part of what makes his style special. Her signature tattered tights that raised eyebrows on the streets of Paris inspired Hedi Slimane to have her wear tights backstage at a Saint Laurent fashion show, cutting them to varying degrees of destruction. These days, you can find thousands of ripped pantyhose tutorials on TikTok. “I think people are more accepting of being DIYers and being creative and sharing ideas with each other,” she says. “It’s very different from when I started [modeling].”

Before Sunflower Bean embarked on her final tour, Coveteur photographed Cumming in her home base: the same East Village apartment she grew up in. Against the backdrop of the neighborhood where she first formed her artistic identity, she showed us the clothes that mark her progression – from her one-of-a-kind lucky Saint Laurent jacket to vintage items personally gifted by Courtney Love.

The death of a Hubbard man whose body was found in February 2021 in an apartment complex at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan has been ruled a suicide.

The decision on the mode and method of death of Trevor Balint, 34, of Hubbard, was completed shortly after his body was found by Japanese and US Air Force authorities. Balint had been the subject of an extensive two-week search after his wife reported him missing on February 1, 2021.

According to the case summary provided by the US government after this newspaper filed a request for documents related to the investigation under the Freedom of Information Act, a search of a storage closet in the complex of apartments revealed that Balint’s body was hanging from a water pipe with black. and a green rope around the neck. An empty rum bottle, newspaper clippings and a chair were found in the storage unit, the report said.

A medical examiner finalized the death certificate on February 16, 2021, saying Balint died by hanging and the manner of death was suicide. Balint’s estimated time of death was between February 8 and 10, according to the medical examiner.

Because environmental information about the storage unit was unknown, the accuracy of those times could have varied by up to two days in either direction, the medical examiner’s report said.

CONTEXT

Interviews revealed that at the time of Balint’s death, he had no steady job and had no known local friends. He lived at the air base because his wife Britni, who is from Brookfield, worked there as an analyst for the Department of Defense.

On January 31 around 2 a.m., he arrived home without his wallet, keys and phone. Around noon, these objects were found scattered on the doorstep of a neighbour’s house. He was declared missing at 6:40 p.m. on February 1.

Neighbors told investigators that Balint often exchanged greetings but did not engage in conversation, and they did not see or hear him having a disagreement with anyone.

Examination of Balint’s receipts revealed that on January 31 he purchased a one-litre bottle of rum and a 375ml bottle of gin in the morning. He also bought four other 500ml alcoholic beverages from a 711 store.

Previous health records showed Balint had attempted suicide in the past – in 2010 by drowning, by sleeping pills in 2016, when trying to jump off a bridge in 2016 and when he tried to jump off a bridge. sixth floor window in 2018.

In 2017, Balint wrote an email that talked about suicide and how he didn’t fit in with the world.

OTHERS

According to a video released by Colonel Andrew Campbell, commander of the 374th Airlift Wing at the base, the discovery of Balint’s death was one of six on the base in 12 months.

“First of all, I want to express my sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones this year,” Campbell said. “I want to reassure our community that these deaths, while tragic, do not reflect any known danger to our community as a whole.”

Campbell said the Air Force Office of Special Investigations has completed a thorough investigation.

“The integrity of these investigations prevents us from sharing many details about each case prematurely and even when completed, many details may not be released out of respect for the deceased and their loved ones.”

U.S. Representative Tim Ryan, D-Howland, helped Balint’s mother-in-law, Denise Mott, of Brookfield, secure a visa to travel to Japan to be with her daughter, Britni, in the days during the search and after Balint’s body was found.

10 home improvements to avoid if you’re thinking of selling https://jotioli.com/10-home-improvements-to-avoid-if-youre-thinking-of-selling/ Sat, 04 Jun 2022 13:36:00 +0000 https://jotioli.com/10-home-improvements-to-avoid-if-youre-thinking-of-selling/

With the housing market still hot, some homeowners might think now is a good time to sell and possibly make a profit on their real estate investment.

But before you make any changes to get your home ready for the market, take a step back and decide if this new project is really worth taking on.

Here are some home improvements you may want to avoid if you plan to put up the “For Sale” sign in your yard anytime soon.

23 Legit Ways to Earn Extra Money

1. Kitchen remodel

A kitchen remodel can be an expensive and time-consuming project, which is unlikely to be one of the steps you want to take before house prices drop.

If you’re worried your kitchen will look dated or not upscale enough for buyers, consider cosmetic changes that might not cost as much as a total remodel, but will still look good. For example, repaint your cabinets a light color to make the room brighter or replace your outdated window treatments above the sink with something more modern.

2. Bring down the walls

Some buyers may prefer a more open floor plan, but not everyone is looking for this type of one-room space for everything. In fact, some people may prefer to have a separate space for children to play. Others may want a room they can turn into an office if they continue to work from home.

If you want to attract those looking for an open floor plan, invite an interior designer or artist to map out potential open concept options for buyers to review so they get an idea of what’s possible. for their needs.

3. Reduce the number of bedrooms

You may think that your small bedroom closet won’t be attractive, but maybe turning a bedroom into a master closet oasis to entice buyers isn’t the answer. Home prices can depend on how many bedrooms you offer, and more often is better.

If you’re worried about buyers seeing your cluttered closets, declutter them before showing your home. Storing extra clothes and shoes is a quick fix to make the closet more inviting.

4. Rethink the living room

Bold pops of color and modern graphic wallpapers have become more popular in recent years. However, the time to experiment with color isn’t right before you put your home on the market.

Instead, you might want to opt for simple upgrades that can increase your home’s value, like giving the walls a fresh coat of paint in a neutral color so they appeal to a wide variety of buyers.

5. Bathroom renovation

If you’re about to put your home up for sale, it may be too late to worry about how your bathroom will look when a buyer comes along. A bathroom remodel can be a major project that takes months, and you may not have that long before you put your home up for sale.

Also, consider the possible return on investment — or lack thereof — for an expensive bathroom renovation project. According to Remodeling magazine’s latest Cost vs. Value report, a midrange bathroom remodel has an average cost of $24,424 but an average return on investment of $14,671, recouping only 60.1% of the cost.

Pro tip: If you decide to take on an expensive project like a new bathroom, consider a home improvement loan to potentially cover the costs.

6. Overdo the landscaping

Curb appeal is real, and you want your home to make a good first impression when a buyer comes to your home. So, don’t hesitate to refresh the look of your home with new flowers and plants, and don’t forget to clean up your garden by pulling weeds and adding extra mulch to flower beds.

On the other hand, you may want to think twice about more expensive investments, such as additional masonry work like a walkway or a brick patio in the backyard.

7. Buy new furniture

Are you worried about those outdated living room sofas and the bed that’s too big for your guest room? Investing in new furniture may not be the best course of action to fix these issues now.

Instead, consider putting the furniture in storage and asking your realtor for recommendations on having someone stage your home. A home stager may have modern options that may work for the space you have available at a cheaper price than buying new. You can then take those savings to the home you buy and get the furniture that best suits the new space.

Pro Tip: If you decide it’s a good time to buy furniture because your existing set is too worn and may be negatively impacting your home’s curb appeal, consider buying it with one. of these three credit cards that will allow you to take a break on interest until around 2024.

8. Furnish a loft

A loft space can be a great place for a sitting area or an office – or it can be wasted space that you never quite figured out how to manage. Turning it into an extra bedroom can be a good idea in theory as it increases the number of bedrooms in your home. However, such a project might be easier to imagine than to execute.

Consider any type of construction needed to complete the project and remember that there may be building permits that need to be approved as part of the process.

9. Rewiring lights

Lighting can make a room bright and inviting to shoppers. But changing and rewiring lighting can be a significant additional cost that you may want to avoid just before putting your home on the market.

Instead of adding extra recessed lights or installing pendant lights in kitchens and bathrooms, consider replacing your current bulbs with brighter, more energy-efficient replacement bulbs. This small change can warm up a room while allowing buyers to make their own changes when they move in.

10. Add a deck

A patio can be a good thing to have in your garden during the warmer months, but you might not recoup as much of the cost as you had hoped when selling.

Adding a wood deck costs an average of $16,766, according to Remodeling’s cost-to-value ratio, but returns $11,038 in resale value. This means that you could recover 65.8% of the game’s value when you sell.

At the end of the line

It may be a good idea to invest some money in your home before you put it on the market. Some small changes can pay off big when it comes to selling. But be careful where you spend your money and focus on the right projects to get the best return on investment.
