Finding love on reality TV isn’t easy. It’s not cheap either. Some fans are surprised to learn that the contestants on The single person must bring their own wardrobe and do their hair and makeup during the show. Since most women don’t have multiple prom dresses in their wardrobe, that usually means buying at least a few (and often *a lot*) of new items for the show.
In January, Daria Rose, a Clayton Echard season contestant, posted a video on TikTok revealing that she had spent $4,4000 on clothes and beauty products to prepare for her appearance on the show, before appearing on the show. to be sent home the first night. The post quickly went viral, for obvious reasons:

In a new post on Insider, Daria broke it down Single budget in detail, with links to some of the dresses she bought. She also offered a little extra insight into why she spent as much as she did and what she plans to do with the dresses she didn’t get a chance to wear at the screen.
Let’s start with the one, obscene $600 that did meet on TV. Daria chose a stunning blue Sandra dress from Dress the Population (cost: $200) paired with white lace-up heels from black designer Kendall Miles (cost: $400).
It’s a lot of money, but she was gorgeous:
“Some of my TikTok followers said they would have bought all their dresses from cheap fast fashion companies like Shein to save money,” she wrote. “It’s true that I certainly didn’t have to spend thousands of dollars, but it was important to me that my fashion choices showcase a diverse group of designers.”
Here are some of the other expensive pieces Daria says she bought for the show:
Illegal Halter Red Dress from Revolve – $219
Red Dress x REVOLVE Allure — $319
Hot Pink x REVOLVE Single-Breasted Jacket and Matching Pants — $395
Emerald Green Alamour the Label Dress – $420
Daria says she’s also spent hundreds of dollars stocking up on new everyday fashion items (tops, jeans, activewear, etc.). and that in total she spent $3,408 on clothes to wear on her Single travel.
Add the $600 she spent on services and hair products and the over $400 she lost on makeup and beauty products, and Daria’s night Single the appearance ended up costing him around $4,400.
“The amount of each Single contestants’ spending probably varies a lot, but I don’t let my investments go to waste,” she explained. “I’ll always make good use of beauty products, and I plan to reuse or donate the dazzling dresses.”
